Our goal is to help residents stay active and involved, while supporting independence for as long as possible. Whether you’re looking for a short-term stay or you’d like to settle down with us for good, we offer a wide range of activities and care, in a family home environment.
ABOUT
Abiding Joy is a family home in Arlington, Texas that has been customized to provide assisted living care. Owned and living on site is a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience. Our mission is to enrich the aging experience by providing opportunities for active, engaged, and purposeful living. Our home has no stairs to negotiate. We also have a wheelchair van for outings. We have a beautiful backyard garden and encourage families to visit often.
PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Abiding Joy provides a full spectrum of daily services to help everyone live a life full of dignity, purpose, and respect. Those that live with us become a part of our family. We are here to help them live safely and to enable them to feel well taken care of. Care can be as little as housekeeping and meal preparation, to medication management, to showering, transfer and walking assist, to end of life care.
There comes a point in everyone’s life when they may no longer be able to take care of themselves. Abiding Joy provides the support that individuals and their families require. We also provide a feeling of family by being a part of a multi-generational home. Our guests enjoy interacting with our kids, celebrating each others accomplishments and imparting wisdom to our kids. Our guests enjoy daily piano and guitar concerts and sing-a-longs. Live music is good for the soul and a favorite activity of our guests. Come check out our therapy dog Evie, a standard poodle.
Many of our honored guests at Abiding Joy require some degree of health and well-being monitoring. With an RN onsite we are able to monitor blood pressure, medication side effects, disease progression and collaborate with our guests' physicians and therapy providers. We are able to coordinate home health providers and hospice providers to come in and provide services as needed. We also have a nurse practitioner who comes once a month for guests who prefer to not go out to see the doctor. By catering to the personal needs of each resident, we go just one step further to make everyone feel like they’re truly at home at Abiding Joy.
Throughout the year, we provide our residents with activities and outings to make sure there’s always something exciting to look forward to at Abiding Joy. We celebrate everyone's birthdays with custom made cakes, attend church on Sunday, go to football games, go to live music performances, plays, movies, scout events with our kids, and holidays are always celebrated. It’s just one of the things that sets our home apart from the big corporate assisted livings. We’re passionate about providing opportunities for our residents to make new memories and friends while enjoying our services.
ABOUT OUR HOME
Each of our guests has a large private room and bathroom. Rooms are furnished with an electric hospital bed, chair, dresser, and TV with cable. Bathrooms have flat entry showers for safety and grab rails around the toilet and in the showers. 3 fresh, healthy and homemade meals are served each day family-style around our large round table.
CARE OPTIONS
We are often asked what kind of care we provide. The answer is we provide both skilled and unskilled nursing care. Unskilled care includes bathing, dressing, walking assistance, transfer assistance and assist with eating. Specialized medical diets. Transfer assistance through hoyer lifts. Incontinence care including timed toileting. Fall prevention program. Dementia care.
As a result of an onsite registered nurse we can go beyond the normal care. We are skilled at basic wound care to complex wounds. Ostomy care. IV medications and fluids. Diabetes monitoring and management, including sliding scale insulin. Tube feedings. Foley catheters. Nail care. Coumadin blood monitoring and management.
