Last February, unexpectedly, I found myself in need of a place to recuperate from radical surgery for cancer. One of the families in our Community Group at church, quietly mentioned they had room in their private family care giving program. Long story short, I spent over 2 months in a beautiful garden-like setting. Quiet, nurturing, pet and music "therapy" available, family style meals or served in your room if preferred. You may enjoy poolside tea and coffee time, a little gardening or play a board game in the family/tv room if you like. Karen (an RN) and Dave have a wealth of experience and knowledge regarding health, nutrition, recouperation, aging and have numerous contacts in the world of "care giving." They have created a wonderful professional and faith-based environment for you or your loved one to tuck into when you are in need of a place to be.
My medical team believes I recovered more efficiently and quickly due to the excellent care, nutrition and gentle environment provided by all involved at Abiding Joy. Thank you Dave, Karen, Adam and Renee. You were one of my favorite surprises during recovery!
Thank you for taking him to church so that we could all worship together, which was such a wonderful experience.
Thank you for allowing me to come and eat with you all.
I really enjoyed our conversations .
Thank you for arranging for me to eat with just Daddy on the back porch during Covid, in what would be his last months of life.
We talked about things I never knew about, and never would have known about, regarding our heritage and background, during those days.
Thank you for seeing through all the things you had to attend to, in order to see the man he used to be.
I know that you all got paid to do what you did but, as you know, I have seen other places that also get paid who do not do half of what you all did.
I want you to know that I still recommend you all if the subject of home health care ever comes up.
I applaud you for doing the work you do, and I am especially blessed to know that your children are a part of the picture, as well.
My mother has been living at this home for several years and considers the Raschios her family! They absolutely care for her and love her as though she is part of their family. I cannot imagine feeling more secure and at ease with my mother at any other facility. They advocate for her and are so in tune with her medical needs! She is so much healthier and happier living with them. They eat homemade meals together, take her to doctors appointments and Bible study and a variety of other things she enjoys. They are truly wonderful. I am beyond thankful they consider this work their calling.
Abiding Joy has more than met our family's expectations for our loved one's months in their home. For Joe it's been a great "family" experience, as the Raschio's teens are fully involved with the residents. They go above and beyond to provide outside experiences.
